COMMERCIAL SALESPERSON

Job Summary:


E.E. Ward is currently seeking a self-motivated Sales Representative to identify potential customers, solicit and secure commercial moving & installation sales, warehouse and storage opportunities for the Commercial Services Division, primarily through the development of new accounts. Assist in the transition of accounts and transactional business to qualified divisional project manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:


• Analyze local market and identify prospective customers
• Perform walk through of potential customer’s facility, gathering all required information to properly format a detailed estimate and/or proposal
• Secure appointments and meet with businesses requiring company’s services
• Create estimate from data collected during walk through or solicited through other means
• Present pricing to customer, including proposal development and accurate portrayal of the services required
• Maintain proper paperwork from initial sales call through transition to project management
• Work closely with move coordinators to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize sales opportunities
• Tend to all service issues, including those that arise outside of normal business hours
• Maintain and create reports to track individual activity and productivity (e.g., closing statistics)
• This position requires a substantial amount of out of office appointments – mostly in the local area
• Develop lists of customers through review of publications, networking with building management companies, real estate firms and other organizations involved in the commercial relocation process
• Secure membership, and participate in organization such as BOMA (Building Owners & Management Association), IFMA (International Facilities Managers Association) and the local Chamber of Commerce
• Prospecting, cold calling, business to business networking, and reporting activity is a job requirement

Skills/Qualifications:


• Must have High School Diploma, some college or trade school preferred
• Solid understanding of the sales process and has passion for sales and business development
• Ability to understand or quickly learn industry, contracts, tariffs, pricing systems/strategies, and current market trends
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong negotiation and closing skills
• Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours to maximize sales opportunities and customer demands
• Knowledge of the moving, commercial real estate, and of facilities management industries is preferred, but not required for a candidate with proven success and experience in sales and/or in-home estimating
• Ability to respond to and manage customer resistance and conflict
• Company is participant in the Ohio BWC Drug-Free Workplace program, a drug test and background check will be required as a condition of employment and random drug test occurs during tenure of employment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The duties of this position require the employee to drive an automobile on a regular basis. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable at certain minimum coverage from time to time prescribed by E.E. Ward Moving and Storage. Proof of a valid license and insurability must be provided whenever requested by E.E. Ward Moving and Storage.


Compensation and Benefits


Typical Structure


• Sales Commission Structure based on experience, Commission against Draw, no salary
• Benefits may include; telecommunications, technology, travel stipend, company purchased leads
• Other expense or entertainment allowance in some instances
• Retirement Plan Participation after period of time
